Bongo Fury

I've narrowed a starting problem (thanks to this forum) on my 2.5V6 in damp weather down to a missing O ring in the distributor cap which I understand is part JE2618V57.

Anyone recommend anywhere to purchase this item in the UK ? The net doesn't throw much up other than some Russian site.

Probably as easy to open it up measure the diameter and replace with a standard "O" ring of same diameter! It's also used in several other Mazda vehicles so try a google search on the part number and see if you can locate it that way.

In the meantime you could run a bead of silicone round the O ring seat then refit cap when the silicone has set.

Cheers for the replies, I'll see if another ring fits and if not the dried silicone is good suggestion, hadn't thought of waiting for it to set first.

Took the cap off this weekend and measured it, ordered spare nitrile ring from sourcing map and have refitted it all. Will see how the damp mornings go and if all good then case closed.

P.S Started looking at some other things whilst all tools were out and finally managed to remove the ETC (electronic toll) wiring and TV left over from its time in Japan.
