Replacement Door Speakers

I am in need of replacement door speakers (must be too much head banging to loud music???). Anyway, have done a search on the forum and have only found dated information on what speaker size will provide a direct fit. The JBL model that was mentioned in a 2012 thread is discontinued. It appears to be a 6.5" but other threads talked about 5 inch speakers. Can anyone advise / recommend current speakers that FWF (fit without faff). Not looking for high end quality sound as I listen to rubbish and the Bongo 'sings' quite loud. :D

The front door speakers are round, an odd size 5.25". But 6" or 6.5" will fit if you use the standard mount and mdf or similar, to modify them.

@Doone, thanks for the information. That helps.

These JVC CS J620X speakers will fit straight in using the original mounts, just trim the plastic around the speaker, remove the screws and pull the speaker off. Trim it flat and fit the new speakers. They are pretty good speakers and only £20 🚐

Them JVC speakers is what I used, I got creative when fitting them.
A recommendation after fitting them would be to use some spongy stuff around the front end to create a seal with the door panel otherwise the bass is horrendous.

If you want bass go for the Vibe Slick 6c v7 Components which require a 10mm spacer and the bolt behind being changed 🚐 but they are awesome speakers clear musical and loud 😎 and move some air

Whilst I was tracking down a rattle in the passenger door (see another post) I decided to check out the ‘dead’ speaker and get a feel for the fitting of replacements as per above. Removed the speaker and noticed one of the spade terminals had simply come off the lug. Plugged back on and we now have music again on that side of the Bongo. I do like cheap fixes. (Don’t think the rear arches will be cheap    )

Long term I’ll likely update the speakers but only when properly broken. Thanks for the above posts.

In addition, if those are the original Mazda speakers in the photo with the cutting tool, mine are quite different. Could be they’d been replace back in Japan before she arrived in UK. Anyway, let the head banging resume....
