Waste Water from the Sill

Post by JackLivock86 » Tue May 18, 2021 4:00 pm

Hi all,

This is my very first post on these forums, so please go easy on me!

We recently got our Bongo and are about to take it for our first proper trip out.

Whilst trying to get my head round the various idiosyncrasies of the workings, I tested the waste water to see where it came out.

In short, the waste water seems to drip through the driver's side sill through some holes in the bodywork.

Does anyone have experience of this kind of thing? It seems odd to me. The last thing |I want is a load of waste water sloshing around where it isn't wanted!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Jack

Hi, and welcome.

When you say 'waste water' do you mean from the sink?

If so it's normal to have a short pipe exiting under the body somewhere, but conversions vary a lot.

Possibly it's blocked with road muck, or been shortened by someone, but I wouldn't expect water to run out of the bodywork.

Maybe see if you can get it on a ramp, or park two wheels on a kerb and have a good look underneath, and maybe a photo? :)

Edit: Possibly the pipe has come off the sink outlet?

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Firstly, yes, I mean the sink waste water.

I've managed to strong-arm a friend into getting the Bongo up on his lift tomorrow, so we can hopefully have a better look at what is going on.

I'll take some pictures to share with the forum, but I'm 'reassured' you agree that it isn't normal!

First port of call will be looking for a blocked pipe.

Will update you when I find out more.

Thanks again!

Hi Bob,

By way of an update, we had the Bongo up on a lift and managed to fix the issue!

As you had suggested, the waste pipe had come loose and managed to work its way up into the sill.

A bit of 'fishing' with some surgery pliers (!) and we managed to pull it back into place and fix it there.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Cheers

Hi there,

Really helpful reading this, I think I have a similar issue but not brave enough to pour water in 😦

Do you have more info about the exact exit point please, the hole diameter etc...?

Hope you can help,

Neil

Hi Neil,

The waste pipe that had disappeared up into the body work was situated just in front of the driver's side rear wheel.

I'll attach some photos, but it is a little difficult to discern.

If you can get underneath your Bongo and shine a torch in any holes that look like they would accommodate the waste pipe (roughly 3/4 inch in my case) then hopefully you can find it hiding!

Hope that helps!

Thanks
