We've Lost Another One: Leo Stevens RIP

It is with sadness that we report the passing of long term member (number 622) Leo Stevens at the age of 86. Leo was instrumental in supporting the club in its early days and frequented most of the meetings in the South, South West and the main Bash. He had a distinctive Bongo (registration L5 WLS) with a tarpaulin on the rear where he slept. His wife, Norma, slept inside the van. Leo was a real ale and malt whisky man, and the town crier for the village of Lacock in Wiltshire where he lived all his life. He was also the chairman of the National Trust Tenants Assocation and a keen local historian.

We had many adventures together until he became a full time carer for his wife. In his later years Leo suffered from mobility problems, but right up to the point where the lockdown was introduced, he was planning a tour of Scotland's distilleries.

His catchphrase was "If you drink more than your GP, that's when you know your're drinking too much!"

Bye bye Leo.

Sorry to hear of the loss of clearly a much loved member. It's been a hard 12 months for so many, but this forum has helped me get through, thanks to the contributions of all members including Leo. I'll raise a glass to Leo and keeping our great Bongo tradition alive, when we finally get out there, where Leo will probably be happily Bongoing all the time now.
