Bongo Fury

Does anyone know what oxygen sensors are compatible with a 2005 2.0l Bongo, genuine Mazda ones are ludicrously priced and the one fitted to my funbus is not original but works fine but has damaged wires.
I know there are different types of sensor and quality brand "universal" ones but what really is the difference?

Your views or knowledge would be welcome

I don’t think there is any difference you just have to adapt thr wiring

As a garage I use the standard parts on customers Bongos.
As you said - some are ludicrous price.
But they are reliable.
(I warranty my work so need that reliability.)
Also if the part fails before it should, the supplier will generally replace it.

Over the years, I've trialled some of the cheaper parts on my own Bongos.
I've found they don't last as long as I've come to expect.

But I haven't trialled all the cheaper parts!
Someone will have found a reliable oxygen sensor that's budget friendly.

Allan is correct. But if you have a 2 litre petrol with a chassis number before SGEW-599999 or SGE3-499999 then the after market Lambda sensor stocked by www.mazdabongo.com is reliable, and a fraction of the cost. But for later chassis numbers I would get a genuine Mazda one. In gact, for 05 or 06 plated Bongos I'm not aware of an after-market alternative.

Mazda will continue to manufacture Bongo parts as long as there is reasonable demand. But manufacturing a small amount of electrical items is expensive, as is shipping from Japan. Then add import duties, inspection and handling fees, retailer profit and VAT, and the item that was £100 at source can soon double in price.

Yes that’s what I meant in a roundabout way, that’s why people start looking around for more generic or adaptable parts

A little bit of research reveals the genuine part is available through your friendly Mazda dealer for 200 squid plus vat, the part number is FF55 18 816 in case any of you want to rush out and get one. A good few equivalents are listed by Dr google and not all dross brands either.
In Japan the real part is 13,300 yen which is £88 in beer vouchers so Ian was right if you add all the other costs

£240 for o2 sensor is a crazy price when it does nothing different than any other sensor probably a 10th of the price
