I have phoned on numerous occasions and keep getting an answering machine.

Might be worth trying that if no one local knows.

I haven't heard that they're not trading. Possibly very busy and simply can't answer the phone. If you leave a message on their answering machine, or send an email, I expect they'll get back to you.
