Good Morning Bongonauts,
Hope you are safe and well. Just a slight query, my keyfob opens and closes central locking no problem, but also locks me in the van after about 30 seconds (with keyfob) not sure what is causing this ! Is Bernie trying to tell me something! I have replaced the battery in the keyfob, but this has made no difference. TIA Paul

Is this a new problem, or just started?
In the States, particularly, it's common for car doors to lock after about 30 seconds due to the high incidence of car-jackings.
Known as Chicago Locks, or similar, and a right pain if you have the car running on your drive and shut the door.

Wow that was quick Bob,
Problem seems to have started about a month ago, this does not seem to happen if i leave fob in house and go "old school" and use a key and then this issue does not seem to happen (hence the comms to mother ship!)

Do you know the make & model it might be a function that's been turned on by error?

Hi Geoff a bit confused. I assumed it was the same across all models my is 2001 V6. Is it possible the fob is faulty and sending a signal to close central locking? Or maybe it needs to be re-programmed (if that's possible). Thanks for your advise in this.

I don't think remote locking is standard/factory fit.

Thanks for your reply Bob, I have only had the Bongo for two years, I assumed (wrongly) the remote C/L was standard! Still everyday is a school day

Yup the Make and model of the fob and remote locking system! The locking system on the Bongo's did change after 2000 at some point.

Thanks Geoff,
The key fob is black but with no other markings. I can live with this, but i guess further investigation would require taking f/o/s door card off to identify the remote system.

Im pretty sure mines is factory fitted, there is no evidence of it being an aftermarket kit (I have fitted loads of them in the past).
All wiring, connections & equipment certainly look factory fitted to me.
I have now done away with the original remote & use my alarm to control it now.

Didn't know that, but it's quite possible.

Thanks for all your comments fellow Bongonauts. Hope to strip out door in the spring, possible water ingress could be causing the gremlins. Stay safe and a very Happy Xmas to all
