... I know, I know ... battery etc but ...

There's an IKEA one for £39, and a Tefal one via e.g. John Lewis for £49.

Just as an option and particularly useful if you're hooked up to lecky.

Saves lugging gas around (although they're around 3kg themselves).

Any thoughts ?

Sounds ok if you have hook up, but would you need gas as well?

I wonder if it might be extra kit on board which (maybe) doesn't get much use. Down to the individual, of course.

I suppose it would be an option to take with you if you knew you had a hook-up ahead. We'd tend to use the mini-BBQ from IKEA or Prakti stove outside anyway (unless it was weather like the last few days !).

I spent some time trying to find an option to not have to bother with gas, when we go away we tend to use charcoal bbq and eat out so our smev sees little use. Plus if we wanted to cook a full English we’d do it outside on tiny Coleman f1 portable gas stove rather than greasing up the bongo...

As I never use hookup induction just wasn’t practical so had to get gas instead. It’s an ok option though if you’re on hookup and don’t already have installed inside

In a bigger van, yes but a bongo is too small to accommodate enough battery and solar to be of any use without hookup

We have bought and use a 2 plate electric hob in the bongo when connected to EHC. We find it works great in that when its chilly out we no longer need to have windows or door open to expell the carbon monoxide from out usual gas cooking method. Also it acts as a heater whilst cooling down.
Ours has 2kw and 1.5kw plates which although do not cook as quick as the gas cooker, we still manage to cook all meals no problem.

We were given a single electric hob which is 2.2kw and we find it cooks quicker than the gas cooker.

Our hookup pack includes:

Single hob
Travel kettle (800w)
Mini electric oven and grill (about the size of a toaster but can cook a variety of other things that you couldn't put in a toaster as well as being able to make toast!)

That whole pile isn't very big really and packs away in the cupboard.

If we are going somewhere without ehu then obviously I leave those at home and we have a gas powered double hob and grill as well as the 4 gas burners in the Bongo.

Thanks - certainly sounds a viable alternative for when hooked up !
