Bongo Fury

Hi all, Sorry, I get the feeling that tyres are a subject that just rolls on and on (boom boom!). I've searched high and low but there isn't really any comprehensive answer on this (p.s. admins, the link on the tyre size FAQ is broken). I've just bought a bongo (2.5 diesel, 2003) and it has currently got 215/65r15 96h on rear and 215/65r15 100v on the front. One appears to have a slow puncture and they are all getting a bit low so going to treat to four new tyres. So here is the question: Would you replace like for like, i.e. different on the front to the back; or would you put 100s on all over?

The original Bongo's when imported normally ran a small width of tyre on the front , to reduce steering forces, whilst the wider at the rear as they lay down the power. In the UK most people opt for having a single wide tyre all the way round and the spare so that the spare can be used in any position. That way all 5-tyres are identical. check that the weight rating of the tyres are suitable as its a heavy van 96 comes to mind as being the minimum.

Thanks, spoke with a specialist garage this morning and that was what he advised too so I've put 215/65 R15 H (96) on all four. He advised against going too high on the weight load (i.e. 100+) as van tyres become harder to balance, etc.

When I bought my van it had 215 all round, I went for OE spec when I replaced the fronts with the thinner tyres and much prefer the steering feel and ride.
