Bongo Fury

Here's a query received at Bongo Towers. Can anybody help?

Problems with MOT emissions on on V6 2.5, 2002 reg, very high. Mechanic says it's injector 3 or the components to it but he hasn't got the tackle to diagnose it. Hope you can advise me on this issue, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gray.

He should have been given a print out of the gas readings . It would help if we could see those.

MOT Failure (major defects)
exhaust lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits [8.2.1.2 (c),
Same for the exhaust carbon monoxide content at idle and 2nd fast idle [8.2.1.2(b) ,
says its coming from around injector 3 ,says it needs someone who can get to and diagnose the problem.

I've seen reference to this on FB a couple of times and a couple of MoT Testers have confirmed this interpretation, however if this is a 2002 vehicle it needs to have been manufactured before 1 st Sep 2002!

This might sound like a silly question, did it fail the MOT test .

Its the emisions print out needed not the fail criteria. The gas readings will give a good clue as to whats going wrong.

All the CO tests failed . Natural 2nd Idle test engine speed 450-1 500 rpm not checked
CO limit =<0.50%
actual value 1.69% Fail
Took it to Contract Mechanics bongo in Harbury , also said its only firing on 5 ,oil in cylinder need rockerfella gasget.
After hed cleaned it up said its fine now but within a day will leak into the plugs again ,says it would pass emissions test now,
drove it back too Coventry about 40 min, had it checked and was told still firing on 5 same problem .
Any help much appreciated .
