Alarm / Immobiliser - recommendations please!

Hi all

Time to make sure I protect my new Bongo from the vagabonds and varmints of Manchester! I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations on the most cost effective way to get a system that will make a bloody loud noise should someone try to break into it. Not so bothered about if its Thatcham or not, just want a good basic reliable system.

Thanks in advance

Adam

I've always gone with the Toad systems they seem reliable and well supported.

Hi!

I bought my Bongo last week and I'm also interested in fitting an alarm system! :D

How would you proceed to install the Toad system? Just buy it online and go to a garage?

Thanks, and apologies for my intromission

Probably best to go to a Toad registered supplier, at least one of the mobile mechanics is a registered installer as well as being well versed in the Bongo!

Second Geoff's thoughts.

A problem can arrise if you supply parts and have a garage fit them.

If something doesn't work the garage can blame faulty parts and the parts supplier can blame the fitting, or just say, "Send it back, we'll look at it".

I use a Disklok as a visible deterent, plenty of on line suppliers, plus local car shops.

I have a crook lock which attaches over the steering wheel. Great visual deterrent and un hackable. I also added stickers on the windows informing any would be thief that the vehicle is fitted with a tracking device.

I fitted a Cobra unit last year, it was a bitch to do!
It took a lot of effort to find the wire from the switched ignition, this would be the one to break for immobilisation, the other is the wire for the starter relay.
3 weeks later, it works, not for the faint hearted.

Bob, I'd like a Disklok, to back up a really loud alarm. Which model do you have please?

Leave the radio, or better still a Motorhead CD, on at full volume which is activated when ignition key is turned. But remember to turn it down before starting it up yourself!

Pretty sure the 'small' fits the Bongo.

Prices vary quite a bit, so do check.

You're most welcome.

Sorted. Thanks Bob. I can confirm the 'small' size Disklok fits my standard Bongo steering wheel. Weighs a ton. But fits. ;)
