Does anyone know what the size of the rectangular end (far end) of the air scoop is?

I have one of those chinese diesel heaters in a box and I don't want to install it in the van because I want to be able to use it in other situations too (such as heating a tent). Now it would be good to be able to set it up and blow air into the van. It seems the best way to do this would be to undo the screws, remove the air scoop and then connect the heater directly to the intake. It would, therefore, be ideal to know what the dimensions of that recctangular bit is. Does anyone know?

Do you think the plastic work at the air intake will withstand the heat ? Plus your going to have to blow it past the aircon fan that won't be running, thru the aircon cooling matrix via the normal air mixing box before it gets to the vent outlets pipes .....

Hmm hadn't considered the aircon being in the way ... have you any other suggestions for where I might be able to pipe it in? My rear matrix is blanked off (it started leaking) so I did wonder where it gets its air from ...

I've seen most people have it fixed under the passenger seat, with the outlet into the doorstep, one person was fitting an extension at that point so they could run a flexible hose out into the awning for heating that, then unplug the extension hose when heating the van.

Using one of these heaters free standing would also require a fuel tank and power supply.

I can see potential problems there, probably easier to heat the tent with a gas heater, but don't run it when you're inside.
