Bongo Fury

Trying to find the part number so we can order one for a club member. Anyone any idea which page of the Lush catalog it appears on and the drawing number?

I suspect it is me who has caused Ian’s enquiry…. To make sure I’ve not sent him on a wild goose chase, let me explain the problem.
Our 1999 V6 ‘van runs as sweet as can be except occasionally when cruising to a halt (not when stationary) for a junction, roundabout etc, when the engine just shuts down – completely smooth and no warning lights or error codes. It re-starts immediately or within a very short time. If I’m quick, I can put into neutral and rev the engine and that will save the stall. Normally idle speed is steady and it’s not unusually thirsty.
We’ve replaced plugs, leads, coil, dist cap and rotor, we thought it fixed but after a stall yesterday (first time since the return journey from the Stourport meet) it seems not cured.
I called in to the garage that looks after the ‘van – not a Bongo specialist, but an old school mechanic who seems to know his stuff – said the first place he’d look at is the Idle Control Valve as they can get clogged up and stave the engine of air. I’m not a mechanic and not very knowledgeable on the subject but this seemed plausible to me and reading the forum, especially Bongolia’s excellent post , I made a call about sourcing a new ICV.
The question is I suppose, do you think I am heading in the right direction? Is the ICV the likely culprit, should it be replaced or do you think a clean a better option? or anywhere else is worth checking?

Teenmal. Thanks for the link. Have now established that it is drawing number 20-990 on page 1300B on parts catalogue, Mazda part number JE2620660. It's still available, and was also fitted on the Mazda 929. But it is expensive at around £280 plus the usual.

Katka. I'm no mechanic either, but before going down this route perhaps you should investigate whether it is a problem with either the Air Input Temp Sensor, or possibly the Lampda Sensor. The former is a little plastic unit that sits above the engine bay near the handbrake, see https://bongoland.co.uk/product/air-inp ... re-sensor/. The Lambda sensor is more expensive if buying a genuine Mazda part but after-market alternatives may be available.

Ian, Thanks for your reply and help so far. I'd wondered about the Lambda sensor and was going to get the one mentioned in a 2013 post by "Rogerrust", but as the 'van seemed ok after the plugs etc replacement hadn't done this. I might now. The air input sensor is new to me - will have to read up about it!
The 'van is now booked in to have the ICV examined and cleaned. I'm crossing fingers that it can be sorted / eliminated as the source of the problem without forking out too much.
Will definitely update the forum in case anyone else has the same thing to deal with.

That sensor should not affect the running of the engine, its purpose is to bring on the scavenger fan.
