First time on this site but I have used all your guides many times but now need your thoughts!
The head on my Bongo has now cracked and the garage is getting me a price but in the meantime I thought I would get your help, I’ve seen many for sale that have had the job done but the head has gone again, so my question is “ is it worth it or is it time for the Bongo scrapyard in the sky?”

Sorry to hear of your rotten luck. :(

The answer, of course, is, 'It depends'.

If Bongy is otherwise good it's worth doing - if Bongy is about to fail MoT for bad rust then it's not.

Many times the head has failed a second time because the cause of the original failure was not addressed, heads very rarely 'just fail', in spite of what some garages will tell you. It's often a loss of coolant or overheating due to blocked rad.

Also, sadly, some garages fit a new head and don't bleed the system properly. You really do need to find a Bongo Friendly garage for this work.

Hope that helps a bit and you get sorted. 8)

Adrian at Japandirect in Bury put a new head on mine 3+ years ago and its been brilliant since. Its important any underlying cause(s) are dealt with though. In my case there were no obvious ones!
