Removing roof seal?

Hi all
just about to paint my AFT roof (1995 2.5TD 2wd) - is there a simple way to get the roof seal off? I can remove it all the way round easily except where it goes round the corner at the back of the roof - there doesn't seem to be a way to pull it off however much I open the roof as the clearance between the roof and the body is too small. Is there a way to do this without unbolting the hinges?
