Hello, I snapped a drill bit in my coolant expansion tank when trying to install a coolant alarm. Luckily I had a spare coolant tank and swapped them over there and then. But, do i need to bleed the coolant system? The expansion tank filled up with coolant when I re attached the pipes .

I would say 'Yes'.

The coolant which filled the tank came from somewhere so air will have been admited.

Three You Tube vids if you have a Google, and if the coolant hasn't been changed for a while I flush and fill with new.

I have looked up the videos, purchased some gloves and a funnel set and will attempt as coolant flush later today/tomorrow.

So, i flushed the system , changed the coolant and I believe I bled the system correctly until no air bubbles appeared following the 3 videos on youtube, BUT, watch do I need to watch out for to see if I have done it incorrectly? Warning signs etc? Many thanks

Check the coolant level regularly WHEN COLD. When the heaters are put on hot, they are cold ,( no coolant circulation). Temp gauge shooting up. Hissing, giggling sounds. It usually takes several days if not weeks to fully relax and trust the bongo again. This is the very well known and sometimes justified bongo paranoia, it will gradually pass.

Hi, never heard of anyone snapping a drill bit whilst drilling a tank. I would think you could salvage the tank by redrilling with a larger drill and sensor screw (we can supply a larger screw) Or, if you want to post the tank to us we will do our best and fit a oversize sensor.....all FOC

Oh, and don’t worry about drilling extra holes....when developing this alarm I sometimes had as many as 6 sensors of all different sizes fitted to the same tank
