Peeling film on AFT sunroof

Hello all,
So this morning I decided to wash some of the bird mess off my Bongo (don't park under a tree!), unfortunately when I tackled the front sunwindow on my AFT some of the black film started to flake and peel off!
My fault for using a kitchen scourer, but I was wondering - does anyone know what this film is, and if it's possible to repair or even re-do the whole sun window?
It's a 2002 model and the part I'm talking about is the black sun window at the front of the AFT, I think only more recent models have it..
Sorry if that's unclear - any advice appreciated!
