Petrol 2.0 2005 - Ignition switch diagnostics with video

New to me bongo, purchased with a few known problems.
Currently I have a cutting out issue, don’t think it’s related to the faulty ignition switch, but having a faulty switch can make restarting when I’m in the middle of a j7nction a bit more exciting, so it’s a good thing to fix as it does need doing
Some days it’s fine, other days it can be 30 seconds of key in and out, back and forth until we get lights on the dash allowing us to crank
Please watch this YouTube video I took
https://youtu.be/CBujOdiW-q0
The actual mechanical barrel is fine
Am I right in thinking the bit of beige plastic at the end which I point to that contains the electrics which is simply turned by the barrel.
Can I just remove that beige bit and have a go at cleaning it up
The inside of this bongo is (was) pretty disgusting, lots of dust grime muck fluff hair everywhere
I’m hoping I can just replace the electrical bit without having to do the barrel
Any thoughts?
Your help and time is appreciated, this is our car which we use for a young family so I’m not really using it as it’s a bit of a gamble.
Cheers
