Interesting as I thought it was the exhaust gas that somehow was involve in combustion again
but it just drives the fins to pull more air in.

That's the Exhaust Gas Recirculation - EGR system, which puts the exhaust back in for a second go at burning

Yes, I never really understood what a turbo did (or how), except give some more power.
The speeds I go I suspect ours is having an easy life.
