Evening all,
a little help /advice is required from you knowledgeable bunch please....
Gradually getting through the seemingly endless list of things to put right on a half tidy Freda 2.5td.

One job that I am looking for help with is replacing the rear heater matrix. Currently the heater pipework is a complete mess. The long steel pipe on the nearside has been cut and bits of rubber spliced in. They are leaking. The rear matrix has been disconnected and the two rubber hoses are dangling. The bits of rubber pipe that bypass the matrix are also leaking.
So Im aware that i need new steel pipes, thats not a big issue. But as the matrix has been disconnected, Im assuming its knackered.
So. How involved is replacing it, bearing in mind that the aircon works, and Im reluctant to disturb any of that.
Rear seats out?
Side panel off?
Voila?

It's not to bad.
First you need to go to a garage and have them remove the aircon gas. Ask them to save it for you as it has rocketed in price recently.
Next, inside the van, remove the panel trim and disconnect the electrical plugs (one for the temperature control unit, one for the blind switch and their may be a third for one of the little green lights in the panel)
Then disconnect the aircon pipes from outside / underneath the drivers side - two bolts.
Then remove the three bolts from the same area and, back inside, a further two bolts that also hold the rear heater unit in place. The whole heater box should now lift out.
Unclipped the clips to open the unit and the matrix will just lift out
