Hi

Finally managed to find a Bongo for my daughter! Lot's and lot's of questions therefore to come!

My first is concerning alarms/immobilisers. i.e. do they have them as standard fit on a 2001 V6? We need to know this so that we can accurately tell the insurance company what the van had

We have one key with the seperate 2 button blipper for the remote central locking but having had a look on this forum I suspect there is no alarms/immobilisers on the vehicle as standard (there's certainly no retrofit device). We'll probably get a 2nd key cut from Timpsons or somewhere.

Thanks

Can't say for sure about the immobiliser / alarm. Regarding the key, we only have one key with the blipper and the other is just a standard key that opens all the doors when it's used manually in the drivers door. Try Lancaster Insurance - they were lower price that the one advertised at the top of the forum page for me this year.

Alarms/immobilisers are usually fitted in the UK as car crime is very low in Japan.

Maybe a daft question, but how would I know if I had an alarm/immobiliser?

I'm guessing that if I used the key to manually open the door without using the blipper and no alarm went off then I could be pretty sure that I didn't have an alarm?

Yes, that's correct. If you had an alarm or immobiliser it would need "disarming" before starting the engine.
