Bongo Fury

Hi There,

Recently my Bongo takes about 10 seconds to start after the glow plug light goes out, sounds like it wont start at all then coughs and splutters and then starts.

Funny thing is it even does this when turned off for only 15 mins at a service station. Over the weekend its done it at least 10 times. The mech says it isn't glow plugs or battery and is scratching his head.

Any ideas ( fuel pump?)

It's also worth trying a search, just put 'and' between the words, ie 'rough and starting' etc.

why does he say its not glow plugs,which is the obvious reason

Primary candidate is the fusable link. Most mechanics wouldn't be aware of its existence.

The mechanic is probably ruling out GP as the fault is persistent even when the engine is Hot. It would probably be worth while having him check for fuel running back to the tank.

Before I had time to share any of the advice he says its a leaky / blocked injector leading to an overfuel scenario which gives the chuggy / delayed start. He says live I can live with it as camping every weekend at the moment. The van won't "Not start" then when time permits get the injectors replaced ( 2no? need to be sent off?) 2.5hrs labour + seals etc.

Sounds reasonable to me.
