Space Saver wheel

Has anyone successully fitted the space saver wheel in it's storage place under the Bongo with the outer face of the wheel facing downwards? This would give access to the valve to check pressure and top up if required without having to extract the wheel?

Interesting idea. But...it would expose the valve etc to the elements which could be seen as a downside? So long since i dumped my space saver i can't remember

I'm one of those folks who has both space saver and the can of sealer. Reckon I might give it a try, the Bongo is only a holiday vehicle for us... far too valuable to get trashed in the local supermarkets and salty winter roads. I'll let you know how I get on.

Space saver and full size rims fit easily with the valve downwards.

I always make sure the valve is to the rear of Bongy so as I can check the pressure easily, and I'm not sure the road dirt would be any worse than when the wheel is on the road.

I also remove the spare every six months to check it over and make certain the winch hasn't seized. 8)

Cheers for the replies. I’ll be needing to get a bit of paint on my space saver as it has some surface rust. Not that anyone can see it under the Bongo but I know it needs doing.

Looks good. I’ll be using some Aqua-steel rust converter as well. The inside face is grim :|
