Hi all,

I've just taken the plunge and bought my first bongo. 1996 but low mileage. I insured it for a day to get it home and it managed 70 plus miles no problem. I moved it in the drive today (no insurance yet as bank holiday!) and there was a horrendous noise while it was idling which seem to improve on acceleration. I'm obviously taking it in to be looked at but any ideas? To say I'm gutted is an under statement, been a dream for ages and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive.... Does anyone have experience of this? I've got everything crossed that it might just be a trapped stone :(

Oh dear, but welcome aboard.

Could the aircon have been turned on, possibly seized compressor?

The No 1 manifold bolt can break and cause a loud squeel, but I'm not sure that would decrease with revs. :?

Hopefully one or two of our more techie peeps will have an idea or two. 8)

Make sure you tax and insure or SORN it tomorrow.

I'd strongly recommend a Bongo Friendly garage for any work involving the cooling system.

I'm not sure how much you know about the Bongo, but the 2.5 ltr models must be bled after any work on this, not doing it properly will result in a cracked head.

Don't want to teach you to suck eggs... but there's many a sorry tale been told on here which could have been avoided.

No any advice/information is appreciated. So it's actually just the air conditioning, something I can manage without just now anyway in sunny Scotland!
