London T-Charge

I've received a couple of reports of people entering their Bongo vehicle reg in to the TfL checker only to find that their vehicle is not subject to the T-Charge. Which is a bit strange as only vehicles meeting Euro 4 emissions standards should be exempt. In other words, as far as we can tell, ALL Bongos have to pay the charge.
I checked my 02 diesel and that is not eligible for the charge. But then, from the members database I checked four pre-99 diesels. Two of them were subject to the charge, two were not. Then I checked three 1995 petrols. 2 were exempt, 1 had to pay the charge.
If you have a moment, input your details on the TfL registration checker and see what happens

I think you will find they have a get out clause;
The classification of your vehicle may change if Transport for London receives information regarding its emissions that shows it does not comply with the T- Charge emissions standards.

After your initial test you need to carry on the link and do this one I would be very surprised if any pass the test....
If you are a diesel vehicle you may also be affected by the Low Emission Zone. Check your vehicle here.
Take care

They don't appear to have a 'P*SS OFF' box you can tick, along with the other options such as buy something newer or join a car sharing club.

Quite strange, ours meets both T Charge and LEZ.. I thought LEZ was lorries only. Clear as mud. Anyway ours could not be cleaner than it is (smoke wise anyway), runs sweet I see so much black smoke coming out of 5 y.o. diesels when they kick down. I can pump the throttle hard and zero smoke comes out.
I think a lot comes down to... do you drive like a plank and bother to service you vehicle regularly and properly ?
The whole thing is messed up IMO. Though of course we should ALL minimize polution as much as possible, afterall we all breath air.

Put my 1998 petrol Bongo in - originally an 'S' plate on import, but it now sports an 'R' plate 'cos some bright spark thought it as a personalised number.
Turns out it's a 'No charge due for this vehicle''.
I'm not likely to be visiting London any time soon though. As Alan Partridge said "London; which I spell S – * – * – * – H – O – L – E. S***hole!"
Edited to avoid affronting public decency and sensibility
