Hi all
Once I start 5he engine it runs ok foe a few minutes then the revs go up and down from 500to700rpm and then seems as if it is going to cut out,I have a small video clip but don’t know as yet how to attach,any help greatly appreciated.

Also is there a list of vechicles who’s wheels will fit the bongo?.
Many thanks

Hi, welcome to BF. 8)

I'm not sure which the 5he engine is, but I'm no techie.

As for which wheels will fit, fitting and being suitable are very different. The Bongo is a big and heavy beast and what might be suitable for a 1 ton sports car might fit Bongy but not be meaty enough.

Bear in mind your insurers will need to know about any 'Modifications', ie wheels. :wink:

There are three possibilities in the Friendee / Freda;
WL-T the diesel 2.5td
J5-DE the petrol 2.5 V6
FE-E the petrol 2l

but it might be one of the earlier Bongo's before the Friendee .....

I'm guessing this was a spelling mistake of 'the' rather than an engine spec.

Well what can I say as I have only had my bongo for two weeks and as it’s a project I have done a routine service of oil,air and fuel filter and low and behold my erratic idleing has disappeared,I’m sum what confused as this is all I have done,could this have been due to air leaking into the fuel system?.

Well, both (dodgy) air filter would in theory have an influence. Bongo is clearly saying its overdue for some TLC so well done and i'd keep going (droplinks, brakes etc all worth an inspection and possible action)

Front brakes and a full interia shampoo done today,am looking to get the front crossmember welded in the next couple of weeks,
Happy days I feel she has been neglected over the last 18 months or so.
Am looking to put some new wheels on all round I have seen the freelander 1 has the same 114.3 stud diameter but not sure of the centre diameter and was looking at 17 or 18 inc your view would be welcome as to these being suitable.
