There are many factors to be taken into account when booking a Meet, once everything else is in place we just go with the site rules.
This not a Club rule, it's down to each site owner and the fire regs.

Bob is right. It's not a club rule, it's (usually) a campsite rule, but I find that camp sites on the coast are a bit more lenient.
The reason most sites ban fire pits and open fires is because of a wider fire risk; embers have been known to come down on tents and awnings which can be highly inflammable. Also, some sites don't allow them simply because of the fact that they attract a crowd. This is true at Stourport where it is difficult to enforce the "noise to a minimum after 11pm" if people are sitting round a camp fire.
At many (but not all) of the club meetings we have an Event Shelter is made available for social activities.
