Reupholstering original seats

We have an unconverted 96 (I think) bongo with split rear seats. We want to keep this arrangement and leave the bongo unconverted.
However I find the bed too lumpy even with a memory foam topper. I was wondering if anyone ha had their original seats reupholstered so that they are flatter - more like a rock n roll bed style?
Any advice will be great fully received
Thanks
Sue

It should be easy enough, on Imperial's conversions they flatten the seats so you don't even need a topper. This is ours, I know it's a bench seat but a split seat should be able to be done in the same way...

Agree with Muzz, but as a cheap fix we use 4 of those garden kneeling mats that you get in Poundland/Wilkinsons etc.
Two each large and small, cut to size with a sharp knife to fit dips in the seats.

Thanks for the replies guys, will contact imperial and see if they are willing to do seat conversions as a stand alone service

It might be worth putting an enquiry out on the various Bongo facebook pages also as small traders seem to hover around these and there's certainly a lot of Bongo owners chatting on there (much as it pains me to see people socialising at Weatherspoons rather than the historic and characterful Dog & Bucket - as it were).

There are a few firms that will do customisation of seats, but I think you will find that Imperial will only do it on vans purchased from them. Norhtstar will probably do it, but there are other converters, and you may need to approach them on a one-by-one basis.

Mine has the swivel base from Northstar with split seats, do you have a price to convert this to flat cushions please?

I'd probably sort a price by PM.
Reason is posts do get resurected after long time periods, sometimes years, and a price will be for specific work. Any companies workload and overheads will also change as time passes, and the next person may not want exactly the same job.
If someone sees a price on here which is well out of date it can cause problems when they expect a supplier to match it.

The three seat split is not worth flattening due to the hinge. We replace them and try to match them with full width bench seats that we carry in stock.
I'm not allowed to advertise or give prices.
I've probably said too much so not sure you will see this post.

I hopefully will have my flattened bench (swivel) seat fitted this week, will report back once fitted and 'tested'.

We won't ask about the test method.

Can give the flattened (and revolving) seat a vote of approval
Spent a couple of days and a night in Haying Island on the beach in the van, the seat is very comfortable both to sit on and when used for the bed, so much better than having to cart a mattresses around.
Beautiful beach and some lovely early Spring sun, -1 overnight, have insulated the van so it was ok with Winter rated sleeping bags, but I will be fitting a heater for next Winter.
