Bongo Fury

It has rained heavily for the first time since I acquired my Bongo a few weeks ago, and I've discovered that the window in the AFT roof is letting in some water. It's one of a catalogue of faults I've had with the van (that's a long story!) and I'm inclined to get the dealer to take it back. Before I do that though, has anyone else had a leak like this, and is it easy to fix by e.g. putting a bead of sealant round the frame on the outside?

Not common at all though I think there might have been one person on here before with that problem so worth having a search in case you can find the thread. Can't remember the outcome. Also worth googling sunroof leaks etc in general for advice. Dealer ought to acknowledge problem though doubt they could be relied on to fix it properly

As mine is a tin top feel free to tell me I'm talking rubbish here, but from my experience with caravans you need to be using a sealant which will remain flexible such as Sikaflex 512 - pricey but good. Do take care using it as it sticks to anything - roof, windows, seats, fingers, hair, etc...! I tend to mask off anywhere I don't want it to go.

Thanks for the tips, both. The dealer is trying to find a professional auto glazier to do the job but without much luck - windscreen repair firms won't touch it. I reckon a sealer like this Sikaflex 512 will do the job, and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere as good stuff for sealing rooflights on caravans. Thanks again.

Update: I saw a fellow bongonaut in a car park in Colchester and asked him if he'd ever had this problem. He said that he hadn't but that he'd anticipated it. He used a product called "The Works" (10 quid from Wickes) to seal around the frame, so I took his recommendation and did the same. Problem solved!
