Bongo Fury

I have a V6 year 2000 tin top.
Some time back I fitted a scavenger fan over ride switch by shorting out the sensor under the hand brake.
Have never used it in anger but while pottering about today I noticed that when I switched on the sensor over ride, the dash board charge light
flashes.
Hadn't noticed this before - can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Have just noticed a reply by Geoff to a similar question earlier re fitting a 270 ohm resistor.

And if you switch your ignition off with the scavenger fan switched on it will overun for a few mins

I'm not sure if I'm a fan or not
I did my switch and used to use it after hills in devon with the caravan on the back
It was one of these times after getting to devon and leaving scavenger fan on after parking up
Next time I started up my exhaust manifold had warped and snapped a manifold stud
Not sure what caused it but I think the scavenger overun cooled that end of the manifold to quick
So use with caution

Thanks for that - point noted.
I am not an electrical wizard but it has made me think about refitting a dpdt switch so I get a warning light
when on.

Gasy, they do that anyway! It will remain one of the world's great mysteries whether your scavenger fan caused it But I understand your caution. I've experienced similar with a different common Bongo fault - never knew if I'd caused it or not.

But worth letting people know
Was it the long hard run heating the exhaust manifold or the scavenger cooling it quicker at one end
It never went over 95

With hot galvanising metal work they get the warps if they cool it quick
If they galvanise it and then just leave it to cool naturally
They don't get the warp problem any where near as much

Note to self: don't galvanise my exhaust manifold, and if I do, must remember to let it cool naturally

Now if we could galvanise chassis and body panels...

You can have your chassi galvanised
But you have to strip it first
We used to do the LANDROVER defenders chassis
But they are easy to strip
Then they get nicked with a galv chassi on
So loads used to paint there new galv chassi black
They now making them pre galvanised off the shelf ( not landrover they hardly paint the new chassi s )
Someone should start doing galved bongo chassis
