Bongo Fury

Hi All

Has anyone experienced problems with one side of the roof bowing when raising the roof, it seems as if something is putting pressure on the roof from the inside and there has already been a crack in the roof. I am in bit of a fix, because the only way to see what the issue is, will be to raise the roof further, but I worry this will cause the roof to shatter.

I have tried attaching a photo but apparently the file is too big.

Any thoughts on the issue, or the impact on the roof greatly appreciated

There are two motors
One each side
Can only be got at when roof is up ( or part way up)
Behind two black covers under roof
Towards the rear of roof
Are both working ?

Thank you for the responses, both motors seem to be working now at least, we did have an initial attempt to raise the roof where only one side went up this caused a crack, as soon as we heard this we lowered the roof. It had only raised about 6 inches. Now both sides raise but one side is bowed. I am not sure if this is because of pressure from inside or the result of the crack.

I am resigned to just raising the roof and seeing what happens (after the bank holiday camping trip) in the hope any issue will be contained to a small section of the side of the roof.

It sounds like the mechanical parts of the roof need a good service in general.
Start by making sure you have enough time and in a position to raise the roof and keep it raised until the work is complete.

Give serious consideration to replacing the Gas struts there obtainable here @ about £25 each http://www.sgs-engineering.com/car-boot ... azda/bongo
You will probably want to repair the crack as well, not sure on the best procedure for that but others have done it.
Finally take a good search around the forum to check on the motor mounting blocks and the Telliflex cables that operate the roof to make sure they are all serviced etc. when you have the roof open, once done you will have a lot more confidence in the roof.

You are wise to consider not using the roof until you've got it safely fixed! If its windy these roofs take a bit of bashing stuck up like sails, let alone the going up and down bit.
