Bongo Fury

my bongo 2.5 td auto will not change out of 2nd gear, ive flushed out the gearbox fluid twice now and cleaned the filter as per instructions, the fluid is cherry red and at the correct level, ive checked the throttle position sensor and the voltage is spot on both open and closed! checked all connectors, replaced the coolant temp switch, checked the transmission ecu and the board is clean no dry joints, no burning etc, im at a loss, prior to this the gearbox played up randomly sometimes sticking gear then not, and also revs went up and down, now its just undriveable, please please help im close to giving up

You could use an autobox specialist. Could the solenoid pack perhaps be u/s?

I have similar problem. Flashing hold light and drives fine up to 55-60 but goes over 3000 revs approaching 70, which is slow for V6. Have driven 5,000 miles on it not exceeding 60-70mph. Also hold switch does not drop down a gear. Having driven through endless Portuguese mountain passes effortlessly I'm sure the gear box is fine. However, with a tired and weary V6 not sure whether to change the solenoid pack or carry on till I find a new v6 to form a relationship with.

check the fuel filter, or blockages in the tank etc. restricted fuel can often give the impression that its elsewhere, also check the exhaust or if your brave remove it just to eliminate it as a cause.

There are no fuel problems, all filters are new, starts well, goes from 1st too 2nd gear and thats it, reverse works as it should too, banjo filter is clear etc etc

Have you scanned it for fault codes?

May well be worth calling these people "Belvoir Automatic Transmissions, Call 01636 678 000" they are based in Newark & have been doing auto transmition for many years. They are the go to experts in this area with a good reputation. I've driven Autos for years myself and have used them in the past. They have worked on Bongos and have had posative feedback on the forum. They are friendly peps to deal with & may give you some pointers before you start to spend large amounts of money.

Help please.
My bongo wouldn't change out of 2nd gear and I fitted a new solenoid pack. I had real trouble re-attaching the valve chest - on my back on the ground and struggling with a weighty oily slippery valve chest on a scissor jack while holding the three springs in place at the same time ! Unfortunately, when I had it bolted up, I found that the gear change linkage wasn't properly engaged. So . . . I've undone all the appropriate bolts to try to remove the valve chest again and it won't budge. I've checked that all the necessary bolts are out, and 3 corner ones slackened off about 6mm, but the valve chest stays firmly in place. This is in contrast to the first time I took it off when it dropped immediately. Anyone any ideas why it seems jammed? Any ideas how to free it? (I have the scissor jack underneath, this time with a wooden pad fastened firmly to it.)

I'd get some proper axle stands before you consider going underneath Bongy.
