Is removing the rear seats a modification with regards to insurance?

It certainly does for me via Adrian Flux.
8 seaters have enjoyed a certain popularity with bogus whiplash merchants. This has resulted in all of us being penalised.
Another advantage, as far as I'm concerned, is being able to turn down requests for family transport from people whose kids I don't want running about all over my back seats with muddy shoes.

Thanks for your comments. My present broker was not very helpful when I asked a while she came back saying it was a modification and the company dont allow any mods at all. I would have thought having 5 seats was far less risk. With the rear seat out I could pack so much more into my bongo. My renewal doesn't come up until August and I plan to do quite a few trips before then. Thinking of shopping around and finishing this policy early and get rid of the back seat.
