Yep, classic case of a very few ******* cobbling up a good thing for everyone else.
Makes me mad when some idiot messes things up.

Sort of defeats the object of wild camping if you have to tell them which nights, which areas, and then be told which area to camp in!

Tend to agree, but I wonder how many will bother anyway, whilst I've never wildcamped in that particular area, it seems worthwhile having it set up, bookmarked if I ever do, I suspect I might find a place and then book it if its still free at the last minute....

I heard this on the radio yesterday and must say was pretty gutted. I haven't even got our Bongo yet as it's still travelling on the water, but high on the bucket list was wild camping in Scotland. If you have to book in to sites, that ties you to a timetable and has spoilt the opportunity for spontaneity. After seeing pictures of the mess left behind though I do see why they feel the need to bring this in. It's such a shame that a small minority has spoilt it for everyone else.

Reading this makes me feel really sad, lots of those places are regular haunts of mine quite often spur of the moment decisions to go.
I understand why it is being done but I can tell you 100% I wont ever on principal 'pre book' to wild camp in any of these places.

You don't have to pre- book, provided there is parking room and it's not taken just go online (that could be he problem of course!) and grab the space for £3.

Just dont like the idea of it, at the end of the day buying a £3 permit wont stop idiots littering the place with broken Buckfast bottles. They may know who was there but can they prove out of the five groups that was there who has made the mess ?

Think I'd invest in a few of these and pick up the results at the end of the week!

No doubt they will have Rangers visiting as well.

It's a little disappointing but it's not the whole of Scotland just a particular area. just keep heading north and there's plenty of places you can stop.
