I think at times bongo owners get over obsessed with the Bongo cooling system. Having no owned 3 and been involved with many more. I am sure that Mazda got it right and a well maintained Bongo will be very happy without any changes to its cooling system. If there was any advantage fitting a different stat then Mazda would have fitted said stat in the first place. Top Tip :- leave well alone and just keep the system clean and leak free.

May be a bit to cool I would say.
Good luck with the stud!

I suppose there might be a logic that says that in a poorly running coolant circulation, a thermostat that opens sooner might reduce issues with a hot engine and boiling over: a sort of variation/improvement on the habit of not fitting a thermostat at all to stop the system boiling. But ultimately, a poorly functioning system needs the root cause addressing. And the engine is designed to run within Mazda specified temp limits, which only the correct thermostat is designed to achieve.
