Bongo Fury

Hi,

Has anyone stripped a rear seat down to the boards. I'm thinking of doing it so that I can add thicker, flatter foam to make the bed comfier.

If anyone has done it before - how easy/hard is it?
What are you left with (is it a flat surface or would I need to attach new base boards)?
Do you have any pictures of the process/finished product?

Not done this myself, but I'm sure it has been.

Bear in mind the middle seat is heavy (really heavy) (really, really, heavy) so have a pal help lift it.

The front seats are just a high density foam injected around the tubular steel framework, I don't think you will find any boards

There's somebody on one of the Facebook groups who has done exactly that. I'll see if i can remember who it was and find the post.
Technically speaking mine has also been done when it was converted by Northstar, the difference is mine was done by altering the original upholstery so they still look like a factory seat, just flatter and more comfortable to sleep on (and shorter as they've been modified to fit in alongside a full side conversion)

I know Northstar used to offer the flattening service seperately but seem to remember it was quite pricey.

Thanks, that's the kind of thing I was after. There's a similar post by someone with a vw, but they only had pics of the finished product.
