Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have been planning on getting my hands on a bongo for a little while now.
I have seen a few I like the look of down (I'm in Manchester) in Bristol. I've heard stories of dodgey goings on with Bristol dealers so would just like to hear any recommendations or otherwise for this dealer. Their website is
http://www.jcsswltd.co.uk/
I've had a quick search on the forum but not much seems to come up.
Thanks a lot,
Pete

Welcome aboard.
Don't know the dealer you're looking at, premesis look to be the budget end of things, but that's not always a bad thing.
Where you are I'd have a look at Wheelquick, Wigan.
Warranty jobs are much easier near home.

Thanks for the welcome Bob
I did take a look at Wheelquick's website but they only seem to have the 1 Bongo there.
Bristol is a bit far but I really like the look of one of their Bongos (

Welcome Pete. That's a nice looking Bongo though it needs to be as good as it looks, at that price. Has it just been converted i wonder to up the sales appeal/margin. You might find a private sale rather cheaper and you could budget the saving to one side as self warranty. Also have you driven many yet? The 2 litre is the simplest engine to maintain and the most common in late models, but also the least powerful, which is fine as long as you are travelling fairly light, not towing, and don't expect to rocket up hills.

Thanks Mike,
I've just been on to the phone to them and that one isn't actually available, seems they don't update their website very often.
I haven't actually driven any yet, I suspect i will be ok with the 2.0L but will try and test drive the 2.5 too.
I'm basically looking for something that is 2002 ish, around 50k miles AFT with a full side conversion.
£10 - £13k seems to be the going rate for that from what I have seen.
I'm constantly on the look out. Though as it's my first camper I'm keen to buy from a reputable dealer with a professional conversion to limit the chances of it being a dud.
Thanks again,
Pete

There's a promising looking silver v6 with lpg conversion in the for sale section on here in Fareham asking £8.5k. Might be worth emailing for pics etc.
I'd drive a few before moving on to buy. Research their pluses and minuses also. The Bristol place sounds like they have a website window that doesn't tell you much about who they really are

Hi,
Going back into the dim recesses of my mind, the name sounds familiar but i'm not sure of the when, where or why. I would be wary of any dealer who advertises stock they don't have though.

Ye Gods is there no end to it. This person seems to be single handedly blighting Bristol's Bongo reputation. Can't the law deal with them - permanently!
There must be a good story here for an investigative journalist - maybe contact Watchdog?

Not a big help if you're called Bob and live near Bristol.
I'd love to see them stopped, as would a very reputable Bongo garage who often get asked to pick up the pieces.

The trouble is most of what he does is not illegal, just ethically and morally poor

He relies on people not having sufficient understanding of what their buying to spot likely problem areas, and no doubt plays on the hopes and aspirations - as he doesn't offer any after sales support, like servicing, repairs, conversions he doesn't have to rely on reputation, once the money has been exchanged he's off your case and wants nothing more to do with you.
Buyer beware!

Pop over to the East side of the country and have a look at Andy's Imports just outside Norwich. He is brilliant. We got ours from there, he is so helpful and the after sales superb.
