An Afternoon with George (Bongospares)

What a guy, I needed a few parts for some of the vans, so decided to whizz over to Sowerby Bridge and have a chat mano-a-mano with George.
What he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. He gave me the grand tour and the chance to view his vast piles of spares, many, many diesel cylinder heads - he even demonstrated a test rig which is basically a bench to plonk an engine on, test & re-test. The thoroughness of his testing is reflected in his mantra of once it's sold he never wants it back!
Anyone wanting bits - don't hesitate. I came back slightly more knowledgeable and slightly skinter :-)

One minor claim to fame - I told him something he didn't know about centre consuls (I said I wouldn't boast - but his staff insisted that I do!)

Cheers
Roy

I was just perusing their website the other day which looks very useful. It's good to hear that he knows his stuff, I see they do repairs and services too which is good to know.

On looking round, I suspect it's always going to be worth a call to George - he has tons of stuff lying around which makes no appearance on his site.
An example would be sets of Chrome mirrors, some fantastic sets of used (and brand new) wheels & tyres.

The minor thing about center consuls I showed him was that the two mounting points for the pre & post face lift models are slightly different.
As I fit the earlier types in the later vans (with the high arm rests) - I soon discovered I needed the pair of brackets too!.

As a reward, George gave me a set for free (but I did buy a pile of stuff).

Nice guy - I'll deffo be popping back soon.

Cheers All.
