Cam belt quickie

Just a quickie, 2.5 diesel p reg, friends going to do the timing belt and he's asked if the belt runs the water pump if so I'll need to order one with the belt. Does it?
Any advice?

The cam/timing belt only drives the cam shaft.

That's quite true, if your friend is a Mechanic its a 30/45 minute job.
