Hi All, need some advice as at wits end!
>So gotta a bongo, lovely to drive
>Go to Wales for family and natural beauty
>Lovely time..
>drive down long long windy mountain road
>Start by hitting pot hole,oh well, on I go
>After hour of driving, leave to go back to aunt's house
>Black smoke
>Turns out radiator leaked, this then overheated, gasket get blown, engine now basically dead
>Look at options, only engine swap left, local garage has worked with Bongo's, Yay
>Wouldn't do an engine swap for love nor money. Oh
>Family know mechanic, comes up, swaps engine with good condition ebay engine
>almost done, find out injector doesn't work, oh well have spare
>Mechanic has to go home now, and now I have an dead car an no means of doing an injector swap, all local garages, are busy or time wasters.

Now considering scrapping as have had enough, any advice.
Other option, if you think you can fix, you can have it, I would however like a bit more that scrap costs but honestly just rather wasn't wasted.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances though.

A little more info will help: Diesel? Year of van? AFT? Converted?

Replacing the head is very common, but whole engines is rare. So it seems a shame after all that to give up for the sake of some duff injectors, IF that is the only problem.
Have you priced up having it moved on a flatbed (I'm assuming it is auto so can't be towed) to a Bongo friendly garage? Once up and running it will be worth a load more. If you post where in Wales it is, somebody may be able to recommend a garage.

Cheers,

Diesel, 1996,
Not sure on 'AFT'.

Road to it is quite small, so not sure I can get a flatbed there.
Will have a look for other garages, but keep being delayed by people saying they'll have a look then never getting back to me.

Welcome aboard.

Agree with the points Chris makes, an injector swap shouldn't be a big deal.

Was the cooling system bled once new engine fitted? If not don't drive it until this is done.

Bongo Spares or Ian Taylor, Stoke, may be interested if all else fails.

AFT Is the factory fitted lift up roof.

what about the mobile bongo mechanic, he will come to you and do an inspection of it as is and check what has been done so far, then at least you may have some good info to base your future decision on.

just cannot remember his name.
