Reversing camera

I'm about to swap the Pumpkin head unit out of my (boring old fart!) Cmax into my way more characterful '95 Bongo - it's one of those Chinese all singing, all dancing multi-function jobbies (and very good too I might add) I can't find a Bongo specific wired reversing camera though - can anyone recommend an alternative please?

I've used a few over the years from Ebay search for Bullet Cameras or Rearview cameras, just make sure they use PAL rather NTSC otherwise some displays might not be happy in the UK;

I was thinking of one that replaces one of the numberplate lights or puts the camera in the same sort of area - I've seen a 2002 bongo on the forum with what looks like a factory fit one similar th on what I described but can't find any reference to aftermarket suppliers

If you have the camera up higher looking down, you get much better 3D view the lower you put the camera the less you can judge the distance, also more road spray and muck gets picked up.

Thanks - any idea where the best place to pick up a trigger feed to the head unit would be or does it have to run from the reversing light itself?.

Its available on the radio socket as the Reverse signal ISO Pin A3 or Mazda pin 3C

Hi,
I wired the camera into the numberplate light, as it was difficult to get a wire from the rear door to the reversing light.
I just switch on the sidelights for reversing.

Practical fix.

Clever fix.
I put mine on the underside of the bumper as i didn't have the time, patience, or length of cable to route the wire through the hatch.
It is pretty useless where it is though, as you can't get a good grasp of just how far away you are. Definitely on my list is to route a cable through to the hatch and have it up near the spoiler.
For reference, my camera has a power wire and the yellow video cable. So yellow runs forward to the stereo, but it also has a wee wire built into it that acts as the trigger wire to tell the stereo i'm reversing. Other end goes to reverse light as the power source.

I intend to mount mine just above the number plate and try and route the cable through the headlining - anyone tried that or is it easier to go under the carpets?

Its not impossible just the normal fiddling required! I have several wires going into the rear door, the existing rubber seal top right was full so others I have routed with the rear window wash tube on the left. I use a long thin screwdriver pushed thru the existing rubber seal to tape extra cables on the end and then pull back thru. Under the roof lining trim I have inserted pull cords so its easier to put extra wires in later as well.

Which plug are you referring to ?
Oh perhaps you mean the circuit diagram ? If so click it!! Its just a thumbnail of the page on the on-line wiring manual! The plugs are listed below the diagram.

Don't shout at me, I'm a newbie. Maybe I should have put radio socket as in your previous response. The thumbnail in that post is indistinct and the wiring diagram is not available on android so I can't transport it to the Bongo via my tablet - I'll pore over the diagram on PC and work it out.
