Tinted Rear Window - can you see parking mirror?

Hi folks
I'm thinking about getting a factory tint rear window fitted. If I do this, is it still possible to see (and use) the rear view parking mirror located at the top of the tailgate? If so, is it still useable at night (with reversing lights on)? How is vision through the tinted rear glass generally for night driving?
It would be great to hear some feedback and advice from someone before I go ahead and fit one. Also, is it a tricky job to fit? I'm thinking it's probably a job for a pro....?
Cheers

Yes you can use the parking mirror. Vision at night is probably slightly reduced but nothing problematical. Not sure on the fitting side of things. Would it not be easier to get the existing window tinted?

Thanks RooSmith - good to know. I'm thinking about getting a factory tint window (if I can) so there'll be no danger of the film degrading with time

I had my car done for £175 and it comes with lifetime guarantee.

If you did fit after market film you could leave a cut out for the mirror.
Have to agree factory original is likely to be best.

I have a dark limo tint on mine and the rear mirror is very difficult to see in anything other than good daylight. However as I have reversing camera this is not a problem.

On my old bongo I had no tint on the rear windscreen. The guy that film-tinted the sides suggested not to for this reason.
On my new bongo it is factory-tinted (but not limo tint). I find it harder to use the rear view mirror when the light is bad or it's dark but I have gotten used to it now and am doubly careful.
I think if you have the option of rear sensors that may help.

Our 2001/2 van has factory tints. To be honest, I'd not even noticed the tint had an effect when reversing, and I do use the mirror.
If you're going factory-level tint, I wouldn't worry about it, you'll be fine I suspect.
On vans with factory tints, is the rear window any less tinted than the side windows?
