Noisey Mirror mechinism.

Hi all,
My mirrors are getting noisy when being operated, folding in/out. I expect that the drive motor may have nylon gears or such like. Has anyone ever lubricated them? My thought was to use a silicon based product to do the job. The question is how do I access the drive mechanism to do this?
