Fuel gauge

Hi folks,
I assume i havethe classic earthing issue of the fuel gauge. It appears to be stuck at just under half a tank, i put £50 of diesel in it, so it should've gone higher.

I noticed the other day that it had stayed at empty after filling up with £20, then it jumped up to the normal position where it should be.

Couple of questions, is the gauge likely to drop as normal once the fuel is lower than "just lower than half" that the gauge is at or should i be more cautious and fill it up?

Is it possible to do the extra earth from underneath? My conversion is on top and i really don't want to rip it all out just for easier access.

Many thanks in advance!

Might not be your issue but it takes 5 minutes to do, best check that off the list first. Worked for me.

Thanks for the replies folks.

Away on holiday at the mo with no tools, so i can't do a rudimentary check, but i will on my return.
Thanks again (especially the point of where to bolt a wire through).

This is us at Swanage Coastal Park in, well, Swanage. Really lovely place. We're in a static as we weren't readdy for proper camping with our 3 month old. Although the supplies in the van have come in handy!

Looks great, rather like all the space in a static, nice view, too. 8)

Finally got round to doing the earth wire this morning.
As suggested, i cleaned off one of the holes in the tank lip, i then attached the other end around the tank strap bolt.

My fuel gauge straight away got an extra quarter of a tank in it, which was a nice bonus!

A good mod, thanka again forum!
