Bongo Fury

Hi Everyone,

i am just looking for some quick opinion on this subject.

i recently flushed and filled and blead my bongo. when inspecting it i noticed 2 of the clips on the driver side hoses were jubilee clips. they were on the large thick hoses.

i do know it is better to have the spring clips and i do have those clips everywhere else on the system, i am wondering would it be worth the time and effort to change these 2 jubilee clips? i will have to drain, refill, and blead again when changing, or should i leave it for 2 years and do it next time i am changing coolant the hose looks in good shape, no sign of any cracks, or anything.

if your really good you can depressurise the system, (take off the expansion tank cap) flatten the hose well away from the jubilee clip so you dont stress the joint, slide on the proper clip over the flattened bit, then get some grips and slide the spring clip into a rough position, then loosen the jubilee and slide it up a bit to get the spring clip into place, if the hose has been on for a while it will be bonded or stuck to the metal pipe beneath so any leak will be minimal.

sorted, no bleeding etc.

is there any risk is i leave the Jubliee clips on? i just don't want this change to effect to suddenly effect the sensitive cooling system.

I used these Mikalor constant tension clips, like a jubilee clip but with a spring, also quite affordable! Theoretically you can fully unscrew it (though I never tried it), making it possible to put on without removing the hose.

Whilst it is best practice to use spring clips if the Jubilles have been on for a while then I would leave be. If it aint broke dont fix it

I've used jubilee clips for years
On my cars and at work ( I'm a plumber / gas engineer )
They have held some great pressures at work
I see no problems with them
Put them on do them up tight
Check them and retighten if necessary after a run
I think manufacturers use the spring clips to eliminate human error on the production line

thanks for the advice. I will leave it for now, as i have a issue with my thermostat and haven't fixed it yet. don't want to open another part of the cooling system that may cause more confusion for me.
