Front Drop Links

I need to replace one of the front drop links this week.

I thought there might be a guide on here but couldn't find anything.

Is there anything I should know before I start? Any tips?

I've got my fingers crossed that it is the drop link as it makes a knocking noise sometimes. The other side had to be replaced a few weeks ago for the MOT (but that side wasn't making a knocking noise!). So figured I'd start by replacing this one too. At least it will have a pair of new ones then.

Not tricky at all, just make sure you are secure on axle stands, so when you have to jack up the hub to make the holes meet, you are still solid and secure.

Thanks for the reply - are the axle stand points obvious on the Bongo (got to be honest haven't jacked the Bongo up or anything since having it!)

There won't be specific 'Axle Stand' points but it should be obvious where you can put the stands under the chassis.

There are points for the Bongo specific jack but I wouldn't use these for stands, they're only for quick use while you change a wheel with that jack.

As long as it is obvious then that is good. I had a Volvo as a previous car and it didn't really have anywhere to jack from or hold except for the crappy points on the cills.

when doing the front drop links try to soak them the day before as they are very hard to remove, wire brush the bolt threads then lube, i dont think ive ever got one off without cutting it off with a grinder as they are really in the water splash zone.

make sure the new one comes with nuts as they a special thread so you wont have one in your spares box if you damage the old ones getting them off.
