Chuffing brakes again!

I had an issue with chuffing brakes a while ago, which after a multitude of new parts was solved by replacing the rubber bush in front of the wishbone (it was missing completely and meant when braking the wishbone was making direct contact with the chassis, transmitting the noise of the pad on disc through the van).

However................. it is back. From what I can remember the same as it was before. I took the brakes apart, couldn't find anything and put it back together, using cooper slip as I went. This cured it for 10 miles or so before it returned. Fed up I gave it to my local garage, who also couldn't find anything but said he'd regreased everything and it seemed to go away. I have no idea how on earth this is making a chuffing noise go away but I'm at a complete loss.

The only thing I can see is, the upper caliper pins had munched rubber boots, so I replaced those last time. This time I have noticed the lower bolt on the nearside has a hole going right the way through the caliper, whereas the offside doesn't. Should the nearside have a rubber boot, as it doesn't currently and every refurb kit I can see only provides one per side.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Also a link to the exploded diagram would be handy (sorry I don't know where they're kept).

Thanks all

both pins on both sides should have the protective dirt seals on them, they should also be lubed with brake grease to aid the sliding of the calliper.

just one thought on the lack of the front rubber bush on the wishbone, this maybe because the wishbone is bent along its pivot point on both pivots, so the front is weak or has got bent out of line, this can happen when they start to rust inside or hit a pot hole. if its twisted out of line it may encourage it to wear through the rubber bush until it falls out or goes metal to metal when you hear it.

the hole through the calliper is the only way to get a stuck pin out of a seized calliper, ive done this myself as a stuck pin is easier to drive out with a narrow pin punch.

Thanks Northern. If both are supposed to have the rubber sleeve, do you know where I can get the lower ones from, as neither side have it. All the refurb packs I can see only have one per side and I don't really want to spend £50 odd a complete pack when all I need is the sleeve (the rest was replaced last year).

With regard to the wishbone, I think the bush was missing last time, as that wishbone had been replaced. Of course it could be bent however that bush is still there this time and looks in new condition still (at least from the outside). I will double check this though, thanks.
