New Bongonauts.

We have just completed the first 1000 miles in our new Bongo.
She is a 2006 model Aero Top 2000cc Petrol Automatic.
MPG is always a concern as we plan a few extended European Tours so will do our best to drive as economically as possible.
Have taken all the obvious steps to keep things affordable. Decent Fuel, Correct Tyre Pressures,Sensible speeds Etc.
Our first 1000 has been mainly side roads with approx 250 miles of Motorway and A Roads. We keep below 65mph.
We have achieved an overall figure of 9.7l per 100k ( 29.25mpg)

Is this reasonable ? Has anyone any further advice please ?

Also can anyone direct us towards an Owners Manual or Workshop Manual ( in English) please ?

The MPG sounds about right. I would expect an average of 30 mpg on that kind of journey, less for urban use.

Workshop and owners manuals are available through the club shop, see http://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/manuals/

Thanks Ian.

Bought an Owner's Manual as suggested.

Its answered many questions.

One thing is that it states that the Fuel Tank has a 65 Ltr, Capacity. Is this always the case ?

It's just that when our Fuel Gauge heads towards empty we stop and fill up and so far the best we have manged to squeeze in is 42 Ltr.

Either we have a smaller than standard tank or we have a good sized remaining reserve , hope it's the latter.

Please advise.

Cheers

There all 65 litres but the last few litres can not be reached as otherwise you would be sucking up any rubbish in the tank. I think the lost we have ever squeezed in was around 52litres, but likewise the "Empty" mark is quite generous as well!

Thanks Geoff,
That's very reassuring.

I agree it best not to run right down to the last few drops.

We can now happily use the Fuel Gauge as an approximate indicator but will be sure not to run past the 500 kilometer mark after each fill-up.

Pretty much what I do, just zero the trip counter when we fill the tank as a back up. 8)
