Run Flat Tyres on my Bongo

Yes it is true I have run flat tyres on my V6 2wheel drive Bongo
They are Cinturato P7 all season 225/50 R18 99V On stunning white rims.
The handling and ride are excellent, (thought a little too soft before)
So no worries in regards to a puncture as can still drive 100 miles at 50mph and no need to carry a spare.
Any body else tried run flats?

Same thoughts here, looked into run flats for new alloys but went for Avon Z7 at just over £300 for the set.

Yes they are not cheap,
I have the original set plus spare 4 sale if you want cheap £100
Also you will need a tyre pressure monitor installed, this will tell you pressure and temp for each tyre in real time.
Otherwise you might not realize you have a puncture in the first place.
The size is crucial so that the speedo is accurate, the size I have are exactly the same diameter, not even a mil out.
Still I think it is worth it for peace of mind,

I don't get that one, does this mean (if I have read it correctly)that you can fit 18inch wheels/tyres and the speedo reading will still be the same as the standard 15inch wheel/tyres .

Of course TPMS would be needed...think that exceeds the price I paid for the Alloys, new tyres and the £90 refurb on one wheel £546

With lower profile tyres, yes.

As for Different size wheels and yet maintaining correct speedo callibration.
There are tyre and wheel calculators online which will tell you what combination of wheel size and tyre profile you need to maintain your correct speedo readings.
For me it was more difficult due to wanting run flat tyres as these do not come in all sizes and profiles.
After a lot of research I used Wheelbase, they provided the Wheels with tyres fitted and balanced and wheel nuts etc,
I paid a tyre fitters £20 to have the wheels on my bongo changed, I bought a tyre pal pressure and temperature monitor and hey presto all done.

If the right profile (aspect ratio) tyre is fitted .. any diameter rim should be very near to the rolling radius of the normal 15" rims / tyres

No need to state 2wheel drive......all petrol bongos and some diesels are 2 wheelers

No need to state 2wheel drive......all petrol bongos and some diesels are 2 wheelers
Though I did spot a dealer selling a 4WD Bongo V6 on t'internet the other day. Don't think I'll be buying from them

Having gone through all the options for fitting a spare I had decided on fitting run - flats.
Back Circles are advising against this as it could affect the suspension and handling, and my alloys might not cope.
I am going to talk to the fitting centre about it, but I would be interested to know what other members think of this option.
I know more than I want to know about spares and options for such things, just want to know more about run flats now!

Any update on the use of Run Flats on a bongo. Our local tyre man is against them and recommends a bottle of sealant and a compressor which, he says, will get you to a garage in 9 out of 10 cases these days with tubeless tyre punctures usually being slow. He says replacements would be hard to get as you have to have the same make and type as a replacement and a 215/60r16 is unusual profile for a run flat, you can't repair them (or most places WONT rather than CANT)
My get is on a TPMS to catch flats early before you damage the side wall. A compressor, and in the last resort, goop and a compressor.
What says the community?

Look on eBay for a Mazda IMS kit. Same as other makes probably but I have this in my mx5 and the pump has been reliable.
I have run flat on my BMW, I wouldn't go for them elsewhere. The sidewalls were are very stiff which makes for a harder ride. They will also be pricey. I've never used the gloop but carry it just in case. Most slow punctures can be dealt with by some air and quick trip to get repaired.
