Bongo Fury

We are looking to hold this in mid-August next year. Does anyone have any recommended sites? Must have minimum of 25 hook ups.

What about the tantalon site at north Berwick, not too far north for people from down south and on the east coast so much less of a midge problem in mid August.

We like to move these things around a bit; we were at nearby Dunbar this year.

I've stayed at Tantallon before, and it's a nice site.

Applecross ain't that easy to get to Muz especially one of the two roads you can travel to reach the village it's self. The road is legendary, with sheer drops, land slides and is a busy single track road, personally I find it's is a great experience to drive it but it's not for the faint hearted.
May be midge central mid August, not a problem to us hardy types but it may put a few off from travelling there in mid August when the midge population can be at its worst.

The Western Islands is going to be a tad too expensive for some Bongo owners to get to. Having said that this is a great we campsite only about ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean so does not appear to have a midge problem. The owners appear to have developed the site in recent years having laid down lots of concrete. When June and I were there in 2007 in our Bongo it was like camping on the owners back lawn. The communal building adjacent to the entrance is a big plus. You can make yourself a meal or a cup of tea there and the lounge provides a place to meet up in the evening, raining or not.

Bumping this thread because we still have not reached a decision about the venue for the Scottish Bash 2017. The dates are Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th. As it's August it's probably better to head east to avoid the midges.

I have read that Applecross charge for dogs. That's not going to go down well with some people.

It's also too inaccessible. Which is why we have proposed Angus. See above.

I like the look of drumshademuir. EHU, pub and restaurant, good for walking. £23 including electric, not bad for August.

That's only a few miles away from the campsite near Alyth that we used in 2009.

How much do they charge? I was thinking about getting one - might be a cheap option!

That's what I thought. But then I noticed on their website that they do not take group bookings. So I have emailed them and asked if they had any problems with Bongo people booking direct, so this is what we will do unless they raise objections.
